About Tuckers
We are a West Country based seed, malting and merchanting company that originally started life trading from a small office in the Dartmoor town of Ashburton in 1831, where our head office is still situated. With 175 years of experience we have built up a reputation of offering quality seeds at value for money prices. We sell a complete range of seeds and as an independent company we are able to offer the very best varieties from many breeders. We supply large farmers, market growers and gardeners alike all over the country and beyond. Today our company is unique with many diversified interests within the food (and drink) supply chain and its reputation spanning three centuries has been built on quality and service.
Edwin Tucker, a keen farmer, originally became involved in the seed business because he felt there was considerable room for improvement within the trade. His legacy for supplying quality seeds to West Country farmers still remains the company's philosophy one and three quarters of a century later. Our friendly, personal service is second to none, our seeds are hand packed and our staff are helpful and efficient.
In 1859 Edwin Tucker supplied grass seed to Isambard Kingdom Brunel for use under the new Tamar railway bridge, the original order written in his own handwriting can still be seen in an old ledger at our offices at Ashburton.
Tuckers are registered and audited by the Soil Association as an approved supplier of organic seeds and supply many organic commercial growers and gardeners.
