Green Manure Seeds
If you haven 't used them before,give them a try.Sow green manures wherever bare ground becomes available.The sowing of green manures can have a number of benefits.They will improve the structure and health of your soil.Once 'dug in ',the crop breaks down releasing nutrients to the following crop.Some green manures,namely the legumes,leave free nitrogen which has been 'fixed'from the air by bacteria living in nodules in the roots.All green manures help with weed suppression,some can even be sown under growing crops.Most species are only used for a short period of time,but some can be left for 2 -5 years.

Description
Ideal for short term nitrogen fixing especially on poor or acidic ground on which Red Cloverwill not flourish. Can be mixed with Italian or Perennial Ryegrass. Sow straight April-August or mixed March-September.A packet should cover 40 square metres.

Sow from May to August and cut down on flowering or allow to die back naturally during winter. A useful alternative to mustard when club root may be a problem. A packet should cover 30 square metres.

Description
Sow straight from March to October. If mixed with clover as is usually the case do not sow until late April and make last sowings in early September. A packet should cover 12 square metres.
