Green Manure Seeds

If you haven 't used them before, give them a try.Sow green manures wherever bare ground becomes available. The sowing of green manures can have a number of benefits. They will improve the structure and health of your soil.Once 'dug in ',the crop breaks down releasing nutrients to the following crop. Some green manures, namely the legumes, leave free nitrogen which has been 'fixed'from the air by bacteria living in nodules in the roots. All green manures help with weed suppression, some can even be sown under growing crops. Most species are only used for a short period of time, but some can be left for 2 -5 years.
